A.A. Phelps writes to his wife, Charlotte, that his plan changed and he is now in Le Roy instead of Utica. He will be in Rochester next. He discusses their plan to be together in the winter, either in St. Domingo or elsewhere. He praises the town of Le Roy, but also mentions the widespread mentality against abolitionism there. He talks about the “wrath” of slavery and the anonymous letter to Arthur Tappan which informed him of a plan for his assassination. Phelps then contemplates about death.
