The sampler is divided into 5 panels by striped borders. The largest, in the center, contains a vase of flowers. On each side is a wreath containing the inscription "Lo izo Refugio Gavino en la enseñanza de la Academia de Puebla en el mes de Agosto del año de 1852. The two bottom panels each contain a floral border design.
